It is one such recipe that does not need a lot of ingredients but turns out to be very delicious. The origin of this recipe goes back to the times when it was served only for royalty. The earlier version of mac n cheese was just noodles, cheese, and butter. Gradually it became the weekend and celebration food for the African-Americans because cheese was used as the survival food for the farm family and community. The reason for the same was they can store cheese and eat it later. Since pasta and cheese were a cheap alternative, they became a regular food option for them. The recipe of Mac n Cheese has the potential to be so versatile that people kept making their versions of it. This magical combination of macaroni and cheese is a mass food enjoyed by all.

Here is the recipe for delicious Mac N Cheese

Step 1

Bring a large pot of water to boil, add a pinch of salt and add elbow macaroni to it and keep stirring it occasionally.

Step 2

Melt one cube of butter in a pan in low heat and add 4 tablespoons of flour to it. Keep whisking it and cook for at least 2 minutes and make sure there are no lumps.

Step 3

Take a bowl and mix 1 cup of cheddar cheese, 3\4 cup of gruyere cheese, and 3\4 cup of mozzarella cheese to it and keep it aside to add it later.

Step 4

Gradually add 1L of milk to the sauce and keep stirring it. Whisk it until it gets smooth. Cook for 5–6 minutes until it gets thick.

Step 5

Now remove the sauce from heat and let it cool. Add salt, black pepper, and nutmeg to it and whisk it again. Add the cheese mixture to it and whisk it until the cheese melts.

Step 6

Drain the pasta and add it to the sauce. Transfer it to a baking dish and bake it at 360 Fahrenheit for 20–25 minutes.
